Power Quality Testing

MIL STD 704, 1275 and 1399 have guidelines of equipment compliance against various power interrupts, dips, transitions that an equipment may experience during its service life.

MIL STD 704 - Aircraft Electrical Power                            Characteristics.

MIL STD 1275 - DC Input Power to EUT

                          in Military Vehicles.

MIL STD 1399 - Ship AC Electric Power.

MIL STD 704

MIL STD 704 tests that Phoenix Testing Lab offers routinely:

  • LDC101 Load Measurements

  • LDC102 Steady State Limits for Voltage

  • LDC103 Voltage Distortion Spectrum

  • LDC104 Total Ripple

  • LDC105 Normal Voltage Transients

  • LDC201 Power Interrupt

  • LDC301  Abnormal Steady State Limits for Voltage

  • LDC302  Abnormal Voltage Transients (Overvoltage/Under voltage)

  • LDC501 Starting Voltage Transients

  • LDC601 Power Failure

  • LDC602 Polarity Reversal

NATO and UK Defense Compliance

PTL is one of the few labs in Canada offering compliance to NATO and United Kingdom's Defence standard DEF STAN 59-411.

DEF STAN 59-411 is a standard used by British Ministry of Defence (MOD) that specifies EMC Test Methods and Limits for Electrical Equipment and Sub Systems.

Aircraft EMC

DEF STAN 59-411

UK's Defense standard is structured around

  • Man Worn and Portable equipment and

  • Line Replacement Units and Sub Systems used in electrical systems.

Different Tests and Test Limits apply based on equipment classification as per above criteria.

DEF STAN 59-411 also requires clients to generate a test plan in order to perform testing.
